How to get better at design + my crazy idea of designing UI on walls

Kids + crayons + wall = chaotic creative combustion. That sounded good in my head, so I had to write it out.

There is something so cathartic about drawing on walls. It’s so fluid and very freeform like (I am talking about real life walls, if you thought I was talking about facebook — oh dear, I can’t help you there). No wonder, graffitis are very much different.

Ok, here’s what got me thinking - I saw this excellent blog post on design on Hacker News today and I realized something “why did we stop writing on walls?” (again, if you’re thinking about the likes of the writing on wall from The Chamber of Secrets, I really, really can’t help you there). So, here’s my crazy proposition - why aren’t designing your UI’s on the wall?

I think I have a solution - here’s what you need:

1) Get this first - http://www.ideapaint.com/work/ideapaint

2) Then, get a projector and project it on this wall. Then start scribbling. The best part about this is it’s very social and non-verbal flow.

So before you send me angry emails saying that I should’ve mentioned Wiimote whiteboard solutions, I am going to say this - screw it! Yes, you can do a lot of stuff on photoshop, but there’s just something so fundamentally gratifying about working with a sketch pen or a crayon on walls. Go nuts!
